Our family cannot thank The Selfhelp Home enough for the support and care they gave our dad.Our dad suffered a stroke and needed significant rehabilitation after being released from the hospital. From the minute we contacted Sheila Bogen, Selfhelp’s executive director who put us in touch with Elizabeth Sanchez, who heads admissions, the wheels to provide him the care and services he needed were put in motion.Everything was coordinated without delay and with Efrat Dallal’s assistance, our mom was even able to “hotel” in a lovely “Respite Room” to be near to dad during his stay.His care was truly a team effort. From the nurses, Raclyn, Joy, Aaron and their colleagues; Sofia and her dietary team; all the wonderful and caring CNAs; Paul, Elizabeth and the other skilled physical and occupational therapists; his care was unparalleled. We also very much appreciated Tom’s efforts in coordinating many of the details necessary to ensure smooth transitions. And Erica Edwards, Selfhelp’s social worker, ensured that everything was in place not only while dad was at Selfhelp, but for his safe return home. Each and every team involved in his care was outstanding.In a time where many facilities are short-staffed, The Selfhelp Home’s teams were always available with caring, skilled, safe and professional support. This place truly cares about their customers!I am 45 years old and from Tennessee. I have dealt with knee issues for years and finally found a doctor in Chicago that could help me. The only problem was that this doctor had to do surgery and he insisted I had to stay in a skilled nursing facility for 4 weeks after surgery. I visited 3 skilled facilities including this one before my surgery. I found this one to be more professional and clean!From the first day I arrived my nurse Aaron and his CNA's treated me like I was family. They explained everything to me upfront and made sure I had everything I needed to enjoy my stay there. My first impressions was that this is short-lived. Give it two weeks and the customer service would fade. 4 weeks later I had no complaints. They treated me with the same respect and customer service from the first day to the last. I also appreciated their physical therapy department. Paul worked with me with patients but also pushed me in order to get the results my doctor wanted to see. Paul is a true professional and has experience in his field.I will always recommend this facility to anyone who needs a short-term therapy or long-term stay.

Very Clean; helpful attentive staff; nice physical spaces. Like a hotel with nurses and great activities. It is quite expensive, but if you can show you have enough for 3-4 years of funds, it's worth it. My dad is so happy and comfortable there.

My mom has been a resident at SelfHelp for 3 years. She speaks often about the wonderful staff, their kindness and willingness to go the extra mile in helping with any problem the resident faces. She also enjoys many of the activities. The staff has done an excellent job during the pandemic, setting and revising policies to protect a very vulnerable population.

They are awesome and their service to the residents is impeccable. My aunt absolutely loves it there and wishes she would have come sooner.

I highly recommend The Selfhelp Home. My mother loves the people, loves her apartment, loves the activities and loves the food. Her happiness there makes us very happy. We were fortunate to find such a safe and nurturing environment in which our mother can continue to thrive.

Self Help Home has been a wonderful place for my 94-year-old mother-in-law. She's been there about 4 years now and is involved with all the activities. The staff really cares and checks in with her often. I like the fact that when she went from Independent to Assisted, she stayed in her own apartment. She didn't have to move. The residents and the staff are almost completely vaccinated and they had very few issues even before vaccinations. Staff turn-over is low because they are a mensch-y place. I would recommend Self Help Home for yourself or loved one.

Each time I've called I'm greeted with friendly voices & patient staff members. Raclyn seems pretty sweet & professional as well. May God bless all the resident's & staff at Self help home!

The Self Help Home Organization is a wonderful Organization with wonderful, caring people.I considered and researched many Long Term Care Facilities in the area and chose the Self Help Home for a Parent.I was very fortunate in doing so.They really are one of the very best at comprehensively caring for the needs of loved ones on their journey across the Rainbow.Thank You Self Hell Home.You are all God’s Wingmen & Wingwomen.

I recommend SelfHelp as it is a great place to live, socialize, interact,to learn, to participate in activities, to assist and for giving back to others. The staff is wonderful! There is a variety of activities, movies, concerts, news and views, etc. for those living here!

My mother has been happier here than I ever could have imagined. It feels like a warm family more than an elder care facility. Staff all know her by name and treat her with great care. I don't know anyone who is as happy with parents' elder care as we are.

This facility treats its residents with dignity & respect, providing them a heimisch environment without religious pressure, in a well kept, up-to-date friendly facility, providing wonderful programs, helpful experienced staff & administration, healthy meals, welcoming family & friends, & making residence a memorable & warm memory.Having been in many senior citizen facilities professionally in the 6 County area of Chicago over 11+ years, I can say that The SelfHelp Home was one of the 5 best I have visited.

One of the best senior living communities. Everyone at Selfhelp cares deeply for the residents. Quality of life is high, great cultural programming, community events and food. They go the extra mile and people who volunteer here actually move in later in life.

Oh yes, I highly recommend ShelfHelp Home especially for rehab. I credit my time there with my final recovery from a very horrendous postoperative experience. The the care, physical and occupational therapy, comfort, support, and food was superb! One experience I had was the occupational therapist knew that I paint, and she arranged part of one therapy session so that the therapy included me painting! I thought that was terrific! The facility is super clean with no odors and constant cleaning, many caregivers, and the support and care could not have been better! I really did not want to leave there! I was impressed with the arrangements and preparations made to send me home, and the social workers follow-up once I was at home. I also found that having a private room was very much to my liking as the room was huge with a huge private bathroom, the dining room was like being in a hotel, and there were many activities to participate in!

I work at the Selfhelp Home. From the moment I walked through the front doors, I could feel what makes this place so special. Lots of love and life here. And if your loved one is in need, you could not find a better place. They will be well taken care of by an incredible, committed staff who genuinely care about, respect and treasure older adults.
