This recording was made at a live concert benefit for the Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest and conducted by music director Jay Friedman. It celebrated the career and retirement of Adolph Bud Herseth, who was principal trumpet of the Chicago Symphony for 53 years. Eine Alpensinfonie is a long symphonic poem in one movement describing a day of Alpine climbing.
