Entertainment

This year’s gala entertainment will feature a bespoke performance by playwright James Sherman and actress Cindy Gold, adapted from the world premiere production of The First Lady of Television at Northlight Theatre. The performance tells the remarkable story of Gertrude Berg, who in 1950 was the beloved creator and star of America’s first family sitcom, The Goldbergs, a groundbreaking series depicting Jewish immigrant family life. Her story of resilience, artistry, and navigating the intersection of faith, family, and politics feels strikingly relevant today and mirrors the values at the heart of Selfhelp’s founding.

The afternoon will also feature M’Chaiya, a contemporary klezmer quartet, by special request of our residents.

Chillingly resonant… Beautifully performed
