HONORING OUR STORY

Founded in 1938, as Jewish families fled a Europe darkened by rising antisemitism and the threat of what was to come, the story of The Selfhelp Home is the story of Chicago’s Jewish refugee community.

Every gift to A Story Celebrated will support a permanent exhibit that preserves this story through photographs, artifacts, a pictorial timeline, and the voices of those who lived it. This history belongs to all of us, and your gift brings it to life.
