Lovely staff and leadership, purposeful community, and gorgeous artwork throughout. I am inspired by the Jewish heritage that is woven throughout the care that SelfHelp Home provides. A great place for your loved one!
The Selfhelp Home has been a wonderful experience for my father. He is very happy here in assisted living! They offer rehab services, skilled nursing, and lot's of other amenities. He is always busy with things to do, and the staff is very friendly and welcoming! It is VERY clean, and the units are updated and modern. The last time I visited, they were bringing friendly dogs around to comfort the residents! We are very happy here, and I would recommend Selfhelp to anyone looking for excellent care for their loved ones!
Self Help is great rehabilitation center! The staff is friendly the environment is clean and the entertainment is superior. Activities for the seniors is culminating richness of culture and exciting fun for seniors to become familiar with each other. My patient was in the worse scenario but Srlf Help gave a mechanical diet and exercise and my patient gain weight and his sense returned. Nice rooms! A great place to be for retirement as well.
I've been visiting people since I am 5 yrs old.l entrusted my parents' care to Selfhelp.Never found anything amiss; one employee whom I heard yelling at a resident was fired early the next morning. I also know a couple who moved into Selfhelp 10 months ago, from a slightly more expensive facility. They are much happier at Selfhelp. My Dad "rehabed"here, and my Mom lived there the last 16 months of her life..Dad was the tougher patient, and he admitted that the medical people got him up, out and home.Selfhelp is an excellent facility. 5 stars.
This rehabilitation facility provided excellent care. The staff consistently went above and beyond to make my mother feel welcome, offering personalized attention from the first day through her discharge. The transition back to my mother's assisted living facility was smooth and well-coordinated. About a week after her discharge, I received a follow-up call to ensure all necessary medical appointments had been scheduled and that all medications and assistive devices were available. My mother and her family highly recommend SelfHelp Home.
Very neat and okBoth CNA’s and Nurses were cooperative, coordinated, friendly, smart, well dressed, well neat facility, no bad odour and we all work in unity it’s as if I’m in my own facility as an Agency cna from clipboard.
I’ve been to, and associated with quite a number of facilities for family and friends. There is nothing like this place! It’s truly everything we could have wanted for our mom, and more!
The Self Help team looked after my mother recently during her stay there for rehabilitation. I terrific team of caring professionals. If you're looking for a senior living community or rehabilitation treatment I highly recommend Self Help House.
A very caring staff. Everyone is extremely pleasant. There are a variety of activities to engage the residents. Additional programs include family members. The facility is always extremely clean. Good communication between the Self Help Home and family.
I lived in Chicago for many years - Familiar with Selfhelp Home. I Was a guest few Friday nights for shabbat service and dinner. Was impressed with the home. This is a place for mom as I see it advertised. Great facility accommodating. Staff is professional. Residents looks happy and all in all a nice remodeled place.
FANTASTIC! They’re bringing my mom back to life, they all sound like they care about their residents so much. They’re extremely helpful, communicative, absolutely wonderful. Can’t say enough great things about them!Mom sounds so happy, she’s more and more herself every day.She deserves nothing but the absolute best care and that’s what she’s getting here. For reference, for anyone considering sending a loved one here:My mom is completely paralyzed and is a VERY hard to please, extremely dignified woman.During her stay here, they’ve held the phone for her so she can talk with family. They’ve managed her pain. They’ve kept her clean. They let her get the sleep she needs. They feed her all of her meals and keep track of how much she eats(it’s less than they give her but I have a feeling that if she wanted/needed more they’d give it to her) They listen to her telling them stories about her life and on the phone, they sounded more than happy to do all of these things. We are all very pleased with her level of care here. They keep us updated, remind us that we can call any time, and they speak to her with respect and care. She’s speaking very slowly right now due to her condition and they are very patient with her while she gets her thoughts, needs, and wishes out. We’ve also dropped off a few snack/treat foods for her and they’ve made sure to give them to her.To all the staff- thank you so much!UPDATE: Unfortunately, my mom passed while she was here. Selfhelp treated her so kindly even after death, they were very nice to us too. We're forever grateful for all the love they showed her and their amazing care that made her last few weeks of life less miserable.
My father lived there for a number of years, as did a cousin. I recently visited a friend's mother. What comes up time and time again is that the staff are there long-term and care about the residents. Once I chatted with the young person at the front desk and she mentioned that her mother worked there as well and that as a young girl while her mother worked she would hang out in Mrs. Schwartz's apartment on the 4th floor. The place was like a second home to her and it affected her relationships. This is a tremendous contrast to the staff in similar facilities.
I am writing this on behalf of myself and my cousin, who is the sister of our family member, now residing at Selfhelp after breaking her hip in May of 2022 and finishing her rehab at Selfhelp during the month of June. After rehab a newly renovated apartment was available. We had looked at several facilities and Selfhelp always seemed to be the best. We have never regretted our choice. We visit every week. We find the staff to be so friendly. The programs at Selfhelp are so many and so varied, and the Sunday concerts are wonderful. We are becoming friends with many of the residents we have met. My cousin has become good acquaintances with Donna at the gift shop and has bought several items already. Selfhelp has truly earned the 5 stars we have given it.
Great place with great caring staff. The best part about the stay was our physical therapist, Paul.An amazing person. Very knowledgeable and compassionate.
Absolutely wonderful facility & most importantly Staff! From Tom at the front desk to the staff/nurses that came in and helped! Would give 10 stars!!!!Thank you!D.
Very clean place. CNA’s lacked work ethic but other staff was very pleasant and easy to work with. Management helped throughout shift. Clients was a bit demanding and some family members came off abrasive and rude. Beside the small things self help was a welcoming environment.
Selfhelp Home was a warm welcoming experience for me, the piano and violin. concert was well played and well attended and the attendees were friendly to me. Bernard Conroy
Based on its very positive reputation, we moved our 95-year-old father from Arizona to the Selfhelp Home, where he lived until the age of 101. The care and overall environment at Selfhelp undoubtedly gave us the gift of many more years with Dad than we would otherwise have had. Selfhelp felt to us like a place where people were caring for people, much more than just staff caring for residents. From our point of view, the five-star ratings earned by Selfhelp are very well deserved and reflect the hard work and dedication of the excellent staff. We were very grateful for Dad and us to be the beneficiaries of this wonderful organization.
